Final Project Proposal

You have all sent me ideas for your final video project and I will attempt to respond to all of these e-mails on an individual basis. However, I suggest that you work in small groups of 2-3. Of course you may work alone if you like but in either case you must post a more fully developed project idea on the blog this week. This may take the form of an outline or shot list. Or it may be a more fully developed text describing your idea. Please also indicate if you are in a group or not and who are the group members.

Sony Unveils Virtual Reality Headset, is now available as a  download. There is a new related blog question. Also please do not forget to bring a a written idea for a final video project to class based loosely on the ideas from our whiteboard brain-storming session. This is all due in class March 25th. (The blog 24 hours in advance.)

A PDF of the Powerpoint presentation we viewed in class, and the basis for the quiz in class on March 11 is available to download here. The quiz will focus on the first ten slides and also on our discussion about the difference between laws and regulation and codes of ethics. Don't forget the new reading and blog question, Some Bot to Watch Over Me.

The Peoples Panopticon, states that "Google Glass is meant to break down the distinction between looking at the screen and looking at the world." What are the implications of this statement? Some of you already tried to answer this difficult question, using the assigned reading, Simulacra and Simulations, to inform your answer.

In regard to Simulacra and Simulations see the websites linked here. Disneyland,  Sea World, my personal favorite The Holy Land Experience in Florida and many many others. A bit closer to home is Nazareth Village.

Mugged by a Mug Shot On-line, continues our inquiry into the nature of privacy in a connected digital world. The "Justin Beiber" blog post is no longer available. However, you can still find his mug shot on-line!
